Business Development Manager

Reports to: Director of Sales and Marketing

Achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory by effectively selling Arzel Zoning products. Personally contacts and secures new business accounts and creates long-term relationships with key decision makers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes, sells, and secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Demonstrates products and services to existing and potential customers.

Details of Function:

  • Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with current and prospective key decision makers.
  • Analyzes the territory’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customers to the organization.
  • Makes telephone cold calls, in-person visits, presentations, and conducts training classes to existing and prospective customers.
  • Enters all contact with customers in CRM.
  • Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
  • Uncovers new markets geographically and through nontraditional sales channels.
  • Works with independent rep groups and helps develop new reps in areas not currently covered.
  • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups.
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
  • Participates in HVAC trade shows, conventions and association meetings.
  • Travel approximately 50%


  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience selling technical products to distributors and through other channels.
  • Experience in the HVAC industry preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS office word and excel, experience using CRM.
  • Presentation, negotiating and closing skills are required.
