Why Pneumatic Zoning Separates Arzel from the Competition

At Arzel, we've stuck with pneumatic dampers because they're so reliable. Here's how Arzel's air-driven dampers stack up to the competition.

Hi, I’m Ken with Arzel Zoning. Here to talk a little bit about pneumatics: how it separates us from the competition and why we think it’s better.

One of the things that pneumatics brings to the table for Arzel is that we can have up to 35 dampers on one system.

Since we don’t have electro-mechanical dampers, we don’t have to worry about enough transformer power to power all of those individual damper actuators.

Another advantage to pneumatics that we’ve seen throughout the years is reliability. Our dampers don’t have all of the typical springs, gears, and moving points that the competition has. That really has just led to the longevity of the Arzel products.

Additionally, the pump that is pre-installed in every panel is a medical-grade pump that is a workhorse. We found this pump years ago, and if it’s not broke, we don’t fix it. We’ve stuck with it for well over 20 years now. And it just adds to the reliability of the system.

The additional advantage to pneumatics, because we don’t have the typical motors, springs, gears, and everything else, is, we have some specialty dampers like an EzyFit, that actually folds up, collapses, and can be reached down through a register boot and deployed. You wouldn’t find some of these specialty dampers that we have in an electro-mechanical world.

So as the dampers actuate from one position to another, they’re completely silent. Your customers won’t even know that they’re installed into their system.

Being pneumatic, our damper systems connect with a simple cut-to-length and barbed-fitting tubing type system. There’s no stripping of thermostat wires, and individual wires, and wondering whether you’ve got it wired correctly, or if a wire’s going to break off of a terminal, or that type of thing. It’s really cut to length, connect, and then on to the next.

How reliable is an Arzel Zoning system? Well, since we’ve eliminated the motor, the springs, and the gears, and really just have a diaphragm-active damper, we actually have a cycle-test damper called Cy. It’s been cycling well over 21 million cycles and still going strong.

Probably the biggest difference with Arzel over the competition is the lifetime warranty. Just due to the simplicity of our system, it really is what allows us to give you a lifetime warranty. It’s a great selling point for your customers. They know once it’s in, it’s backed by Arzel for the lifetime of the product. It’s really just a testament to the reliability. It means less callbacks for contractors, it means less headaches for homeowners. It’s really just a win-win for the contractor and the homeowner.

Thanks for watching the video. If you have any further questions on pneumatics or how our system operates, or really any technical question, feel free to reach out to us.
