Learn which HVAC zoning damper is best for your unique situation. Arzel’s retrofit dampers fit into more places, so you can add HVAC zoning almost anywhere, even when the ductwork is difficult to access. Our technicians will walk you through many typical applications and show you how to choose your dampers.
What’s the most common damper that we’re going to run into with a finished basement? What’s going to make that the easiest for the contractors? Typically going to be our EzyFit. It’s a foldable, magnetic based damper that you can actually fold up and insert that right through your register, boot itself so it’ll fit right through your register, grill down under the register boot. When you get that into your round metal pipe, you’re going to release the damper. And it’s got a magnet that’s going to hold that in place. How about for those homeowners who don’t have a basement, they have a slab house. So something like our RegiDamper would come into play with something like that. Same kind of concept. It’s going to go right underneath your register grill. You’re going to put it in place. It’s, metal extruded damper itself that’ll sit right underneath the register. And that’s actually what’s going to provide the damper operation for you. A lot of homeowners are starting to finish their basements today, making the most out of their homes, getting extra living space by turning that concrete dungeon into something livable. What’s Arzel done for that? So Arzel has a unique line of dampers specifically made for insert dampers, so you can have them installed behind drywall and still have access to those down in the future. So if there’s ever a failure, anything like that, you can remove those dampers without having to get into the drywall. We also offer our branch dampers and trunk dampers, so you don’t have to redo the ductwork. You can make that ductwork work for you in the field rather than end up having to redo a bunch of ductwork and adding a bunch of runs. So one of the things I’ve heard from contractors when it comes to finish basements is, what do you how do you get the control tubing running? Typically with the control tubing, if you’re going to do insertable dampers, you’re going to run that tubing through the ductwork. And really the easiest way is just your fiberglass fish tape. So you typically put a ping pong ball or something on the end of it to prevent it from getting caught in the seams of the ductwork. And then you would actually slip that through your duct, tie your tubing to that, and pull it back through.
