Our unique damper options make Arzel Zoning a leader in retrofit zoning. We develop products with contractors in mind, allowing us to zone more existing buildings. Our modern pneumatic zoning systems are fast and easy to install because there’s no extra wiring or transformers to power the dampers. You can count on our reliability, too. We have a test damper that has been continuously opening and closing for years and has up to 23 million cycles. This reliability is why the industry’s best warranty covers Arzel zoning systems.
When ductwork is accessible, our EzySlide damper installs through a simple cut-in. The round EzySlide dampers have a sticker template that makes retrofit installation a breeze. Put the sticker on the duct, cut out a triangle on the lines, and insert the round EzySlide. Rectangular EzySlide dampers require a rectangle cut-in; installation is just as simple. Watch our EzySlide installation demos to see how it works.
When there’s access to the main trunk but not the branches, our round InsertaDamper can be inserted through the elbow and into the takeoff. A spring-loaded grip also makes InsertaDamper an excellent choice for light commercial applications where the damper will sit in a vertical duct.
When you have little access, our round EzyFit dampers fold like a taco and insert through the boot into the branch. These dampers are an excellent choice when homeowners plan to finish their basement and cover the ductwork with drywall. EzyFit dampers are secured by a magnet, so they require metal ductwork.
If none of these damper options work, our RegiDamper fits directly into the register boot. This makes zoning possible in retrofit applications where you can get a damper into almost every space, but there’s just one area without reasonable access.
For residential retrofits, we recommend the Pro Panel for most applications. Pro Panel has app-based setup and diagnostics that make installation and troubleshooting quicker. It’s compatible with conventional furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, all-electric, dual fuel, multi-stage equipment, and split and package geothermal systems. This feature-rich panel includes leaving air temperature protection and an outside air sensor that handles heat pump changeovers. Pro Panel also includes zone weighting, a feature that enables staging based on the percentage of ductwork that is calling. You can even create zones that can’t turn on the equipment when they are calling alone, just like adding a Smart Zone would work on a different Arzel panel.
For simpler zoning systems with a limited budget, the MPS zoning control may the best choice. MPS is only compatible with single-stage equipment. Unlike the Pro Panel, it does not have sensors in the supply or outside. But if you need a simple zoning system for single-stage equipment, MPS will give you the most cost-effective system.
The Pro Panel is also our go-to panel for light commercial retrofits. It can do up to 16 zones when you daisy-chain panels together. The Pro Panel gives you all the features you could want for heat pumps, conventional equipment, split and package geothermal, multi-stage equipment, and dual-fuel or all-electric systems. It can handle up to 4 stages of heating and 2 stages of cooling, and since the panel handles the staging, it can be controlled by standard heat/cool thermostats regardless of the equipment type.
The AirBoss is also used in many light commercial retrofits. It comes with up to 8 zones in one panel, and is compatible with conventional and two-stage equipment, heat pumps, and dual fuel. The AirBoss does require a heat pump thermostat when controlling a heat pump. It also does not have an outdoor air temperature sensor. The AirBoss includes a master zone control feature that allows the setback of the entire building using one programmable thermostat. It also eliminates the need for two-stage thermostats by using a delay. AirBoss includes leaving air temperature protection, too.
Sometimes, you don’t need all the bells and whistles, and the MPS panel is excellent for those applications. This economical panel gives you the quality of Arzel Zoning with all our damper options. MPS has some limitations: it is only compatible with single-stage equipment and does not offer leaving air temperature protection. We recommend the MPS for simple zoning systems that don’t have a large number of dampers. Many light commercial applications are too complicated for the MPS, but it can work well in smaller commercial buildings.
